On Uniformly Stable Approximation For
We consider an equation arising in linear viscoelasticity. Recently it has been shown that the semigroup for this model is exponentially stable, and that a certain semidiscrete approximation scheme preserves the stability uniformly in the discretization parameter. However, that uniform stability result requires two technical assumptions, which have been veriied only for a limited class of visco...
متن کاملStability and approximation for a linear viscoelastic modely
We consider an integro-diierential equation which arises in linear viscoelasticity. By making use of an equivalent inner product, it is shown that the underlying contraction semigroup is exponentially stable. We also show that the nite dimensional semigroups arising from a known approximation scheme are uniformly exponentially stable.
متن کاملA non-linear viscoelastic model for the tympanic membrane.
The mechanical behavior of the tympanic membrane displays both non-linearity and viscoelasticity. Previous finite-element models of the tympanic membrane, however, have been either non-linear or viscoelastic but not both. In this study, these two features are combined in a non-linear viscoelastic model. The constitutive equation of this model is a convolution integral composed of a non-linear e...
متن کاملLinear Time Local Approximation Algorithm for Maximum Stable Marriage
We consider a two-sided market under incomplete preference lists with ties, where the goal is to find a maximum size stable matching. The problem is APX-hard, and a 3/2-approximation was given by McDermid [1]. This algorithm has a non-linear running time, and, more importantly needs global knowledge of all preference lists. We present a very natural, economically reasonable, local, linear time ...
متن کاملBi-parameter CGM model for approximation of a-stable PDF
Introduction: The non-Gaussian noise in the practical world can be well characterised by its impulsive nature. Typical impulsive interference may include atmospheric noise, ambient acoustic noise and lightning, switching transients, etc. Since 1993, there has been tremendous interest in the class of symmetric a-stable (SaS) distributions [1], as a generalisation of Gaussian distribution, which ...
